Rainbow Falls State Park 633 Leudinghaus Rd, Chehalis, WA 98532

Rainbow Falls State Park is aptly named—the crown jewel of this park is a waterfall featuring a halo-like rainbow when the sun shines through the mist. A short path connects the main day-use parking lot to a viewpoint of this beautiful cascade on the Chehalis River. The park encompasses land on two sides of the river with lush, old and second-growth forests. A charming campground near the river’s edge on the north side features horseshoe pits, a softball field, and a horse camp for equestrians. Near the campgrounds lies a vibrant fuschia garden, popping with brilliant pinks and purples of 40 different varieties of fuschia. You can cross a pedestrian suspension bridge over the river to reach several forested, looped hiking trails, around one to two miles each. If you’re looking for a longer hike, there is an access point to the 56-mile-long Willapa Hills State Park Trail on the north side of the park.
