In 2025, donors funded 23 completed park improvement projects to restore parks, trails, facilities, and campgrounds for your next visit.
These projects were funded by gifts to the Foundation from donors—people like you—who love parks and want to make them more welcoming for all. Here is a selection of our 2025 improvements.
Fort Worden Battery Restoration
Battery Stoddard's transformation into an interpretive center is underway, and thanks to donors, the first milestone is complete with a fresh coat of paint matching the battery's original specifications.
Fort Ebey Trail Improvement
These new gravel steps mark an important improvement along the Pacific Northwest Trail at Fort Ebey, providing hikers with stable footing and preventing erosion along the trail.
Pearrygin Lake Shade Trees
New shade trees, including oak, bigleaf maple, and ponderosa pine, were planted at Pearrygin Lake after one harsh winter damaged mature trees. The new trees will provide campers with respite from the hot summer sun as they grow.
Lake Chelan Picnic Shelter
The only picnic shelter at Lake Chelan was restored, with fresh logs replacing a deteriorating mantle, bench, and beams. This ensures the shelter can host visitors for years to come.
Potholes Water Bottle Station
Potholes State Park gets hot in the summer, so it's important to stay hydrated. New filtered water bottle stations were added in high use areas so visitors can cool off.
Saltwater Kitchen Shelter
A picnic shelter at Saltwater Bluff was transformed into a kitchen shelter with running water and electricity, making group gatherings and cooking more accessible for visitors.
Klickitat Trail Bicycle Maintenance Stations
New bicycle maintenance stations were added at trailheads and along Klickitat Trail for bikers to pump up. This is particularly important for biker safety given Klickitat's remote location.
South Puget Sound Mobile Pumpout Program
This summer, donors also supported a mobile pumpout program reaching Blake Island and Illahee State Parks, which helped the Puget Sound stay clean. This was the third year this pumpout vessel helped recreational boaters dispose of waste responsibly.
Arts in the Parks
Over 19 Arts in the Parks events were held at 13 parks across Washington to celebrate the cultures and traditions of Washingtonians. From Salish Sea tribal canoe journeys to African American history and Lao cuisine, dance and more — visitors discovered and connected to our shared natural, cultural, and artistic heritage.
