Wanapum Recreation Area 4511 Huntzinger Rd, Vantage, WA 98950
Wanapum Recreation Area is a camping oasis with shoreline on the Wanapum Reservoir, part of the mighty Columbia River. Located within Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park, this park provides easy access to trails with petrified wood and dramatic basalt formations that tell the story of the Columbia Valley’s ancient geologic past. Families enjoy the picnic tables, swim area, and boat ramp easily accessible from the Wanapum campground, as well as shade trees that provide welcome cover from the hot summer sun. The campsite mostly offers full-hookup sites and a couple of hiker/biker sites. Most visitors don’t tent camp because of strong winds in the area.
