Palouse Falls State Park Palouse Falls Rd, La Crosse, WA 99143

Palouse Falls, Washington’s very own state waterfall, plunges 200 feet through walls of columnar basalt into a churning basin carved by Ice Age floods. The waterfall is a breathtaking sight you don’t want to miss, especially in spring and early summer when water levels are high. This region is an oasis in the middle of an otherwise arid region, with emerald green grasses and colorful wildflowers blooming throughout the canyon in the springtime. There are three places to see the waterfall in the park, including a fully accessible viewing area with an observation shelter and interpretive displays. Palouse Falls has been the state’s designated state waterfall since 2014, thanks to local schoolchildren who shared the geology, history, and cultural significance of the waterfall with Washington’s state legislature. The waterfall is named Palouse Falls to celebrate Palouse Indian culture and their connection to the falls.
