Imagine drifting off to sleep next to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean and waking up the next morning to beachcomb and fly kites. This is the experience you can have at Pacific Beach State Park, a small gem northwest of Aberdeen. The beach here is filled with sea treasures, so get ready for fun low-tide explorations. The long stretches of sand also provide plenty of sandcastle-building opportunities. Provided you’re 100 feet away from any vegetation, you can also build campfires on the beach to roast s’mores. Sit back and warm up while you watch the sky melt into darkness. Stormy grey weather sometimes also attracts adventurous storm-watchers. This park is the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Indigenous people, who once used the mouth of Joe Creek in today’s park as a rest stop between coastal trading hubs.
