Old Ruby State Park Heritage Site

Old Ruby State Park Heritage Site preserves the land surrounding a once-bustling silver mining town in north-central Washington. Over 1,000 people lived in Ruby City in the late 1800s during the silver boom, where prospectors and miners uncovered silver that is today would have been worth millions of dollars. In 1893, the price of silver dropped dramatically, turning Ruby City into a ghost town within a couple of years. Today, visitors can learn about the site’s history through an interpretive panel and enjoy the quiet rustle of ponderosa pines that now cover one of Washington’s most significant mining-era communities.
