You’ll feel free as a bird at Ocean City State Park, which features a wide expanse of beautiful sandy beach to explore on the Washington coast. You don’t have to worry about finding parking and carrying anything for your day of fun, because you can drive onto this beach most of the time. Set up camping chairs and a picnic lunch as you gaze out onto the horizon, while the kids run with kites in the background. Explore the sandy dunes, birding opportunities, and tide flats, as well as razor clam digging in season. You may also spot horseback riders working their way along the shoreline. Ocean City also features a lovely forested campground with shore pine and other coastal greenery. This park is only two miles away from the town of Ocean Shores, which is a fun destination for dining, souvenir shopping, and golfing. North Bay Natural Preserve, a protected wetland bog and wildlife site on the North Bay, is also close by.
