Mystery Bay State Park 7875 Flagler Rd, Nordland, WA 98358

Mystery Bay State Park is a charming Puget Sound park with a small stretch of rocky shoreline on Marrowstone Island. You can either drive in or boat in, with plenty of buoys or dock moorage available. Lay anchor and step ashore to enjoy a picnic lunch with views of the Olympic Mountains across the water. Maybe your lunch will even include clams, crabs, or oysters that you harvest here in season. This is a great place for saltwater recreation—the blue waters of Mystery Bay often call brave scuba divers to explore its depths.

This area is called “Mystery Bay” because of its history of alcohol smuggling from Canada during the Prohibition. Smugglers often camped out at Kilisut Harbor, the inlet between Marrowstone and Indian Islands, to evade Coast Guard vessels.
