Miller Peninsula State Park, Sequim, WA 98382

Miller Peninsula State Park features several miles of lush hiking trails on the eastern side of the Olympic Peninsula. This park has the benefit of sitting in the rainshadow of the Olympic Mountains, which means it is relatively dry compared to other parts of the Olympic Peninsula. Mountain bikers and horseback riders can also tackle the trails, which lead to views of Discovery Bay and the Strait of Juan De Fuca. You can spot Protection Island, a part of the National Wildlife Refuge, off the coast in the Strait of San de Fuca. This small island is home to 70% of Puget Sound’s nesting seabirds and is closed to the public for their protection. It is one of the last undeveloped habitats available for burrow-nesting seabirds and one of the last two breeding habitats for tufted puffins in the Salish Sea. It also provides protection for the third largest rhinoceros auklet colony in North America, which are close relatives of puffins. Enjoy views of this protected island paradise and other beautiful sights from the shores at Miller Peninsula.
