Lake Easton State Park is an idyllic year-round getaway in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Here, you get a little bit of everything. In the summer, relax by the lake in a camping chair while the kids have fun at the playground and nearby swimming area. Kayaking and fishing are also popular here. There are plenty of amenities for campers at this park, including picnic tables, grills, and a basketball court. The fun doesn’t stop after the summer ends! As soon as there’s enough snow, take advantage of the groomed cross country skiing trails through the Kachess and Stampede Pass area. City dwellers find this park to be an easy escape, since it’s only an hour drive from Seattle and 35 minutes from Ellensburg. The Northern Pacific Railroad, built in the late 1800s, still passes right through this park and carries freight trains.
