202 NE Park St, Poulsbo, WA 98370

Nothing beats being surrounded by community in a place as beautiful as Kitsap Memorial State Park. This park is a spectacular place to host weddings and gatherings with its charming setting on Hood Canal, featuring deep blue waters, a pebbly shoreline, and the Olympic Mountains rising mightily on the horizon. The charming Log Hall Heritage Area and outdoor shelter are full of celebration throughout the seasons. This park also boasts year-round camping and four cabins available to rent. Popular activities for campers and day-users alike include frisbee on the sports fields, picnicking, and beach exploration. Low tide exposes an array of tidepools and delicate marine life like starfish, crabs, chitons, oysters, and barnacles. Birders will delight in spotting the many species of bird that frequent the beach, like goldfinches and great blue herons.

Back in the 1930s, members of the Vinland Community Club led a fundraising effort to buy the land here for a park. The Log Hall was built in the 1936-1937 as part of the New Deal’s Works Progress Administration to employ people on public projects. When the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission got the land in 1949, they named it Kitsap Memorial to respect the wishes of the Vinland Community Club and commemorate Henry Brown, who first had the idea to keep this land for public use.
