Illahee State Park is a beautiful marine camping park featuring the last stand of old-growth forest in Kitsap County. Located on Port Orchard Bay, you’ll get classic views of the Puget Sound and a view of Bainbridge Island across the water. This park is perfect for saltwater boating and swimming, crabbing and shellfishing in season, forest walks, and field games. Illahee also features a veteran’s memorial site with naval guns from a ship sunken during Pearl Harbor in WWII, the U.S.S. West Virginia. The guns were acquired through a joint effort between the park’s founder, Earl Henry Harkins, and State Senator Clifford “Red” Beck in the 1940s.
