Hope Island (Skagit), WA

Hope Island Marine State Park in Skagit County preserves old-growth forests of Douglas fir, western red cedar, and western hemlock, along with peaceful meadows. Only accessible by boat, Hope Island offers calming refuge to camp and watch sunsets. There is a small trail cutting through the island's forests and onto the shoreline which makes for a great birding opportunity. Hope Island is nestled in between Whidbey Island and the mainland near the town of La Conner, so it boasts calm waters for kayakers and spectacular views of the surrounding Puget Sound lands. The ecosystem on Hope Island is delicate, so make sure to stay on designated trails and campsites while you enjoy all this spectacular island has to offer.
