Forks Of The Sky State Park, Gold Bar, WA 98251

Forks of the Sky is a collection of scenic day-use areas that invite you to explore central Washington’s stunning river valleys, forests, and wide-open landscapes. Located near the small town of Index along Washington’s Highway 2, these unique areas offer a little something for everyone. Families will enjoy stopping for lunch and a dip on sunny days at Big Eddy, a riverside spot with sandy and rocky beaches east of Gold Bar. For those seeking more peace and quiet, Raptor Point offers an undeveloped trail down to the river, and Picnic Bend has a trail winding through a forest of alder and fern to undeveloped riverside picnic spots. Rock climbers of varying abilities can take advantage of the granite “Town Wall” formations just east of Index, which offer stunning views of the surrounding jagged mountains and forested land. Non-climbers can take the trail to the top of Upper Town Wall for jaw-dropping views of Mt. Index.
