7890 State Route 14, Lyle, WA 98635

Doug’s Beach State Park is renowned by advanced windsurfers and kiteboarders around the world, who arrive each year to take advantage of the natural wind tunnel created by the Columbia River Gorge. Winds are strong in this area and often create white caps on the river, so taking to the water is usually only recommended for advanced surfers. Family, friends, and visitors can watch the colorful sails on the water from picnic tables on shore. On less windy days, you can access paddling, swimming, and angling from the small beach. There are several state parks nearby that offer camping and other fun activities, including Columbia Hills Historical State Park and Maryhill State Park. Doug’s Beach is named after Doug Campbell, who used to windsurf at this beach often. He still lives in the Gorge and owns a business in Hood River.
