Dash Point State Park features pretty views of the Puget Sound, plenty of sandy beach to explore, and 11 miles of hiking and biking trails. It’s close to both Tacoma and Federal Way, making it a popular place for city dwellers to visit for the day. Campers will delight in falling asleep to the sounds of waves gently lapping on shore or cozy stays in cabins that fit up to five guests. On the beach, you can fly kites, go birding, or search for aquatic life. Dash Point is also a great spot for saltwater recreation like kayaking, canoeing, skim boarding, and fishing. The amphitheatre often features interpretive programming on the weekends. Dash Point became a state park in 1958 after a local man named Carl Anderson wrote a letter describing the beauty of the area and how he had dreamed about it becoming a park since he had clammed and fished there as a child.
