Cutts Island, WA

Cutts Island is a beautiful, secluded island located in southern Puget Sound. This marine state park is only accessible by boat and features weathered clay bluffs that you can hike up for views of the water. During seal pup season, which ranges from May to September, you may be lucky enough to spot seal pups sunning themselves on the beach during low tide. If you’re a certified scuba diver, the sandy spit on the north end of the island offers the perfect place to launch. From there, you can swim to an underwater park offshore from Kopachuck State Park, which is popular with scuba divers and snorkelers. Divers can spot a whole host of creatures native to Puget Sound, including Dungeness crabs, sea urchins, eelgrass beds, sand dollars, and many types of fish.
