Bridgeport State Park is a camping park on Rufus Woods Lake that offers shade and refuge in the deserts of North Central Washington. It's popular for lake activities such as swimming, boating, waterskiing, and kayaking, and anglers will enjoy fishing with the steady supply of rainbow trout, silvers, and walleye. The park is known for large volcanic rock formations called “haystacks” in the surrounding grasslands, which were carried down by glaciers during the last Ice Age. Bridgeport is operated by both Washington State Parks and the Army Corps of Engineers. The Army Corps offers interpretive programs on Saturdays in the summer, often sharing interesting facts about the nearby Chief Joseph Dam.
