Blake Island, WA

Blake Island State Park is a small island located off the southern tip of Bainbridge Island. It features moorage docks, year-round camping, and hiking and biking trails. Relax on saltwater beaches and enjoy activities like fishing, clamming, and swimming, and meander through the seven miles of trails to spot the various wildlife that call Blake Island home. On the northeast beaches of the island, you can view the Seattle skyline. If you’ve arrived by human-powered boat, take advantage of the Cascadia Marine Trail campsites on the west end of the island.

Blake Island is the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Indigenous people, including the Suquamish, who have used the land to harvest ling cod and clams for thousands of years. Some accounts say Chief Seattle (Chief Si’ahl), leader of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes for whom Seattle is named, was born on Blake Island.
