Birch Bay State Park is a camping park in North Puget Sound, so you can stay and enjoy the beautiful views of the Cascades and the Canadian Gulf Islands whether you choose a tent or trailer. Birch Bay is known for its relatively warm salt waters, created by shallow tidal flats and the protection Birch Bay offers from the greater Puget Sound. This makes the bay perfect for saltwater activities like kayaking, windsurfing, crabbing, and sailing. If you prefer freshwater, relax by Terrell Creek which weaves lazily throughout the park.

The Terrell Creek Marsh is one of the last few freshwater and saltwater estuaries in North Puget Sound, and there are plenty of educational and wildlife-spotting opportunities on the Terrell Marsh Interpretive Trail. Great blue herons are known to call this estuary home.
