18002 NE 249th St, Battleground, WA 98604

Battle Ground, named for an expected battle between Indigenous people and U.S. Army soldiers in 1855 that never occurred, is a forested camping park with a pretty spring-fed crater lake. This is a popular destination for families looking to get away from everyday life, particularly from the nearest cities, Portland and Vancouver. Along with a mix of sites to pitch tents or park trailers, there are also cabins, Adirondack shelters, and horse campsites. There is plenty of fun to have on the lake, including paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing. During the summer months, the Battle Ground Lake store offers rentals and supplies for these activities. If you prefer to stay on land, enjoy games of horseshoe or ball field activities and explore up to 10 miles of trails, many of which are horse-friendly.
