This large camping and day-use park offers an abundance of opportunities for family fun, from swimming and hiking to volleyball and horseshoe pits. Nestled between Chelan and Methow valleys, Alta Lake is a two-mile lake surrounded by pine-covered hills and dry grasslands. The lake is primarily fed from underground chambers, meaning the water is relatively warm to swim in early in the season. In the spring, make sure to check out colorful wildflowers blooming along the trails and in the meadows. During the summer months, Concessions on the Lake offers snacks, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and camping necessities. Lake Chelan, a popular summertime vacation destination, is also just a 30 minute drive away. The name “Alta” originates from a local jeweler who was mining in the region in 1900 and decided to name the lake after his daughter.
