Squak Mountain State Park offers city dwellers an easy escape to the forest. Located just outside of Issaquah and only 40 minutes from the heart of Seattle, Squak Mountain features several miles of hiking and horse trails through towering trees like Douglas fir and dense undergrowth. Squak Mountain is one of the Issaquah Alps, nestled between Cougar Mountain to the northwest and Tiger Mountain to the east. Squak is known for its peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families and solo hikers. Trails take you past bubbling creeks and mossy rocks, down narrow ravines and up steep inclines. Trek up to the summit of Squak Mountain and catch a glimpse of the Seattle skyline. The Bullitt Fireplace Trail will take you to the remains of the 1952 Bullitt house’s stone fireplace, which belonged to the family who eventually donated the land to Washington State Parks.
