Situated on the south end of Orcas Island, Obstruction Pass State Park captivates with sweeping madrone trees and a long pebbly beach. This is one of the only public beaches on Orcas Island, which is the largest of the San Juan Islands and known for its dense evergreen forests, rugged bluffs, and stunning views. A half-mile trail takes you through a forest and onto a bluff overlooking the pebble beach, which is filled with multi-colored smooth stones. This is a great place to enjoy lunch at a picnic table and spend the afternoon searching for beach treasures. The park is named after the channel that separates Orcas Island and Blakely Island, with a small island called Obstruction Island set in between. This park has nine first-come, first-served primitive campsites, including one dedicated for paddlers on the Cascadia Marine Trail.
